I came to Pocahontas on May 20, 1974, and started in the insurance
business at that time. After eleven years of serving my clients
as a captive agent with Farmland Insurance, I recognized that my
clients would be much better served by an Independent Agency and
started the Powers Insurance Agency, Inc. As a captive agent, an
agent works for the company which he represents; as an Independent
Agent an agent works for the client, not the company. With that
in mind I have always taken a risk management approach to our clients'
needs. The golden rule of insuring anything is to “NOT INSURE
ANYTHING YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF BUT BE ADEQUATELY INSURED
ON THOSE THAT YOU CANNOT TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF." For the past
thirty years I have enjoyed all the challenges that the insurance
industry has had to offer. The thing I enjoy the most is solving
the problems of protecting a client's assets. Today I find myself
spending most of my time on commercial and farm accounts as Emily
Seiler takes care of most of the new and service work on the personal
lines business.
Leann Powers, leann@powersins.com My employment at Powers Insurance Agency began in August
1988. I got my Personal Lines License in May
1990. As office manager, my job consists of answering the telephone,
assisting customers with policy, claims or billing questions, accounts
receivables and accounts payables, filing claims and managing everyday
activities in our office. Tom and I manage to keep up with his three
grown children and granddaughter and my two children still at home.
School, church and community activities along with spending time
with our family and friends are important to both of us.
Emily Seiler, emily@powersins.com Born and raised in this great community, I was educated
in the Pocahontas Area Community School District and then furthered
my education at Iowa Lakes Community College. After graduating from
ILCC in May of 1999, I started to work for Powers Insurance Agency,
Inc. I got my Personal Lines License in April of 2000 and have managed
the personal lines ever since. I have also managed the crop insurance
since 2000. The thing I most enjoy about working and living in this
community is helping family, friends, and neighbors better understand
insurance.
